We kept buying lights until a publication appeared.

For years we lived in rented spaces in and around San Francisco, where “outside” was often measured in feet. Then we became first-time homeowners on acreage in San Diego. The darkness felt enormous.
We began with practical questions—how do we see the path, find the steps, use the far terrace? Soon we were testing color, warmth, movement and the strange little objects that make guests stop mid-sentence. Many purchases went back. The keepers stayed outside.
Friends kept asking for links. Lightscaping is our answer: a record of what we learned, photographed on the property where we learned it.
